Her Ladyship Justice Torkornoo was decorated with a Yellow Rose in appreciation of her commitment to her calling.

A four-member delegation from the Zonta Club of Accra, led by its President Madam Clara Browne, also presented to the Head of the Judiciary, a potted Yellow Rose to be grown in Her Ladyship’s garden, among other Club paraphernalia.
According to Madam Browne, March 8, every year has been set aside by Zonta as ‘Zonta Rose day’, to reflect and pay tribute to individuals who have empowered women in their communities. She indicated that the Chief Justice stood out as having made a difference.

“…Among these esteemed individuals, your name has stood out as someone who has truly made a difference. In recognition
of your impactful work and dedication, we are honoured to present you with a symbolic gesture of appreciation, a beautiful yellow rose.”
The Chief Justice in response, extended her heartfelt gratitude to members of the Zonta Club of Accra, (a part of Zonta International), who are working together to build a better world for women and girls. She paid tribute to Ghanaian women and entreated all to not to let themselves down, but stand out and be counted.

‘I appreciate the efforts of Ghanaian women. My prayer is that no woman will see herself as less of a person or a second “grade” because of her womanhood, but stand for her rights and never hold herself back in any circumstance or field of endeavour’.

The short ceremony was witnessed by the Judicial Secretary, Her Ladyship Justice Cyra Pamela. C. A. Koranteng of the Court of Appeal as well as female Directors, Deputy Directors and other officers at the Head office. They include Director, Judicial Reforms and Projects; Mrs. Grace Tagoe, Director, Finance; Mrs. Vera Takyi, Deputy Director, Communications; Ms. Rosemary M. Gaisie, Deputy Director Judicial Reforms and Projects; Mrs. Gifty Preko Nyarko, Deputy Director, Human Resource; Ms. Sheila Ahene and Miss. Dziedzorm Akwetey from the Chief Justice’s Secretariat.
