As part of its tour of the country’s capital, Accra, in preparation for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, the Acting Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana, received the King’s Baton Relay on Friday, October 3, 2025, at the Supreme Court Building’s forecourt.

He received it from Mr. Richard Akpokavie, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), who was accompanied by the Director-General of the National Sports Authority; Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle Constituency; Hon. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, and some members of the GOC and the sporting fraternity.

Justice Baffoe-Bonnie handed over the baton at a designated point on the John Evans Atta Mills High Street.

The Acting Chief Justice was accompanied by a Supreme Court Justice, His Lordship Justice Richard Adjei-Frimpong, the Acting Judicial Secretary, Dr. Cyracus B. Bapuuroh, and other Directors and Deputy Directors of Ghana’s Judicial Service.

Ghana was a proud host of the King’s Baton Relay, signifying her commitment to sportsmanship, discipline, and international camaraderie.

The Baton Relay has been a tradition aimed at strengthening bonds within the Commonwealth.
