The Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo has reaffirmed the Judiciary’s commitment to discharging its duties impartially, before and after the country’s general election.
She made this known during a courtesy call on her by the Switzerland’s Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Simone Giger. The Chief Justice gave the assurance that the Judiciary will hear and determine any election dispute fairly and expeditiously, according to law, just as it did in the 2012 and 2020 Presidential election petitions.
Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo with Ambassador Simone Giger, the Director of Judicial Training Institute; Justice Omoro Tanko Amadu, the Judicial Secretary; Justice Cyra Pamela C. A. Koranteng and Mr. George Korang, of the Switzerland Embassy at the meeting.
Ambassador Giger commended the Judiciary for upholding the rule of law in discharging its constitutional mandate. Mrs. Giger’s visit to the Chief Justice was to among other things know more about the Judiciary’s preparations towards the 2024 general election.                                 Chief Justice Sackey Torkornoo (right) with Ambassador Simone Giger (left)

The meeting between Chief Justice Sackey Torkornoo and Ambassador Giger reinforces the importance of collaboration between the Judiciary and international partners in promoting the rule of law and democratic values in Ghana.
